I had a poor experience; I had a coupon for an oil change for $19.99 and most places will rotate your tires with an oil change but they charged me $40.00; they quoted me over $500.00 for just an oil change and front brakes with a $60.00 off coupon. Then to make things far worse they forgot to put my tire lock back in the glove box where they got it from so when I got out to Walton to get my brakes fixed for over $200 less I was not able to get the rims off to change the brakes without damaging the lug nuts or the bolts. That was on a Saturday, they are closed on Sundays and no one even called me on Monday. Tuesday, I had to go back out there to pick up my key and was not even given an apology until I noted that an apology was not even given. This was the manager!
Fantastic crew of hard-working gentlemen. James Johnson is one of the best, most honest mechanics I have ever met.
So these people have a hook and bait you with temporary honesty policy. They just tried to rip my mom off on $1,600. That's not play money. I tried them a few times a year ago when I knew nothing about cars and I thought my car needed rotors and brakes. They were honest saying they didn't need replaced and even let me see my brakes and rotors before they put the tires back on. So mom's car started after a few days of not running and had smoke under the hood and some exhaust "smoke". I checked it and noticed she had a BAD valve cover gasket leak and figured the smoke was burning off oil which it ended up being. But what concerned me was her being bone dry on coolant. My first thought was possibly head gasket. But I asked her if she noticed her thermostat gauge going up too fast or slow and she didn't think it was. so I was beginning to worry she had an internal coolant leak since I didn't see any under her car. Well we took it up to this car x for them to diagnose her ENTIRE intake was bad. When we were on our way out to go home and think this over, I noticed thermostat was on her quote. When I asked about it and if it was bad he said it was only on there because you have to remove it on her car to replace the intake. That didn't sound right to me. He also said she could drive her car short distances, which I was thinking a completely ruined intake? that could not be wise and another mechanic we talked to said the same. She had no symptoms (other than those related to the leaking valve cover gasket) other than missing coolant which also isn't typical with a bad intake. Plus the odds of the entire intake manifold and intake gaskets all being bad is EXTREMELY uncommon. Things just didn't add up and they wanted $1,600 plus taxes for all these supposed problems. So we had a friend who's a mechanic and has the ability to run tests look at it. He replaced the valve cover gasket, flushed the radiator, and replaced the thermostat. Guess what? The thermostat WAS stuck. her fans weren't kicking on because of that, her engine was getting too hot, which was leading to the coolant loss. A thermostat takes about 20 minutes to swap out and costs $20!! That's why they said it's ok to drive it, just short distances. That's why that was on the quote. They had to fix that not because it had to be "taken out to replace intake". But because they had to fix the real and minor problem to make it seem like they were doing their job. Replacing just the intake would have done NOTHING. they knew it was a stuck thermostat and that was all. I even felt like the guy was even acting off when I asked why thermostat was on the list. Probably cause I scared him but I played dumb and walked out with her AND her car. If they were smart about it they would have never put thermostat on there but they look for people they know or think know nothing about cars. Even if you know nothing about cars you can, and should always go home and research a fix first. I know we all need a car and sometimes need a fix fast, but the extra couple days kept my mom from spending $1600 vs only $400 on her two problems. Also this car x is MASSIVLY over charging on parts especially being supposedly aftermarket. This crap is nuts. Find a small little local or family mechanic shop and save a lot of money and hassle. Its sickening what these big chain places get away with.
Went here to get my brakes completely done. Also my car was starting rough. They fixed my brakes ans they were great but couldn't figure out why it was starting rough.
Employe said that it was a Coca Cola... I can hear colors...
